Android App eSIM Purchase and Installation Guide

Before you travel: Purchase

1. While you have a stable internet connection, download KnowRoaming’s App from the Google Play Store. Link here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.knowroaming.esim.app

2. Login using your KnowRoaming account details or create an account with KnowRoaming.

3. Before purchasing an eSIM, ensure your device is eSIM compatible. Click here for a comprehensive list of eSIM compatible Android devices. Or test it yourself by dialing *#06#. Your IMEI number/s should appear. If it does, your phone is likely eSIM compatible.

4. Choose your destination or region based on your travel needs. Select the destination and choose a package that best aligns with your estimated data usage and trip duration.

5. Once you have selected your package, proceed to payment.

6. After a successful payment, it is now time to set up your eSIM. We suggest setting this up with a stable internet connection, before you travel. Your package will only come into effect when you arrive at your destination.

Before you travel: Install

7. Once payment has been processed. You will receive a QR Code on your screen.

8. Click on Save QR Code to Gallery.

9. Go to your settings and click Connections.

10. Tap on SIM Manager.

11. Click Add eSIM.

12. Choose “Scan QR Code”

13. Choose the Gallery icon and select the QR Code you downloaded. Position the image to ensure the entire QR Code is visible.

When You Arrive

14. Go to your Settings, Connections and then SIM manager.

15. Select Mobile Data and set it to your new eSIM.

16. Go back to your Settings and select Connections. Then Mobile Networks.

17. Ensure Data Roaming is turned on.

To Top Up Your Data

1. Go to the KnowRoaming app, log in and select “My eSIMs.”

2. Select the eSIM you would like to top up.

3. Choose a package based on your estimated data usage and trip duration.

4. Proceed to payment. Your data will be loaded instantly, no additional installation is required.

When You Return

1. Go to Settings and tap on Connections.

2. Tap on SIM manager.

3. Under eSIMs, toggle your KnowRoaming eSIM off.

4. Tap on Mobile Data and set it to your local SIM.

To Manually Set Up Your eSIM (Android)

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap on Connections.

3. Tap on SIM Manager.

4. Tap on Add eSIM.

5. Tap on Scan QR Code.

6. Tap on Enter Activation Code (Usually located at the bottom of your screen)

7. Enter the SM-DP+ Address and the Activation Code
To find these details follow the below steps:

7.1. Log into your KnowRoaming profile.
7.2. Tap on My eSIMs & Top up.
7.3. Tap on the status of your eSIM.
7.4. Scroll to “How to install your eSIM” and select manual from the four options.
7.5 The SM-DP+ and Activation Code for your eSIM are located there.

8. Tap on Done. Your device will connect to our services and download your eSIM profile. This might take a few minutes.

9. Follow any additional prompts to activate your eSIM. Once activated, you'll see your new network appear in your device's status bar.

To Manually Set Up Your eSIM (Pixel)

1. Open the Settings app, then select Network & Internet.

2. Tap on SIMs.

3. Tap on Add SIM.

4. Tap on Set up an eSIM.

5.Tap on Use a different network.

6. Tap on "Try these troubleshooting steps".

7. Tap on "Enter it manually".

8. Enter the SM-DP+ Address and the Activation Code
To find these details follow the below steps:

8.1. Log into your KnowRoaming profile.
8.2. Tap on My eSIMs & Top up.
8.3. Tap on the status of your eSIM.
8.4. Scroll to “How to install your eSIM” and select manual from the four options.
8.5 The SM-DP+ and Activation Code for your eSIM are located there.
Tap on Continue. Your device will connect to our services and download your eSIM profile. This might take a few minutes.
Follow any additional prompts to activate your eSIM. Once activated, you'll see your new network appear in your device's status bar.

Troubleshooting

Check If Your Device is Network Locked

1. Go to Settings

2. Tap on Connections

3. Tap on Mobile Networks

4. Tap on Network Operators

5. Toggle Automatic Off

6. Tap on Scan Networks

7. If only one network appears after the search, the device may be network locked

8. If unsure, please speak to your mobile network operator.

Manually Switch Network Modes/ Speed

Android

1. Go to Settings

2. Tap on Connections

3. Tap on Mobile Networks

4. Tap on Network Mode, for your eSIM

5. Select 2G, 3G, 4G / LTE or 5G (try the fastest speeds first and work backwards).

Pixel

1. Go to Settings

2. Tap on Network & Internet

3. Tap on SIMs

4. Tap on the KnowRoaming eSIM

5. Tap on preferred network type

6. Select 3G, 4G / LTE , or 5G depending on which is available (try the fastest speeds first and work backwards).
