IOS App Purchase and Installation Guide

Before You Travel: Purchase


  • While you have a stable internet connection, download KnowRoaming’s App from the App Store. Link here: https://apps.apple.com/app/knowroaming/id641700495
  • Login using your KnowRoaming account details or create an account with KnowRoaming and follow the Sign Up instructions until your account is verified and you are logged in
  • Before purchasing an eSIM, ensure your device is eSIM compatible. Click here for a comprehensive list of eSIM compatible iPhones. Or test it yourself by dialing *#06#. Your IMEI number/s should appear. If it does, your phone is likely compatible with eSIMs
  • Choose your destination or region based on your travel needs. Select the package that best aligns with your estimated data usage and trip duration. If you need more data later, you can always top up your package then
  • Once you have selected your package, proceed to payment
  • After a successful payment, you will be sent to the “My eSIMs” page. It is now time to set up your eSIM. We suggest setting this up with a stable internet connection, before you travel. Your package will only come into effect when you arrive at your destination.
  • Before You Travel: Install

  • Click on the “Install eSIM” button.
  • Follow the prompts and click “Allow”
  • When the eSIM is ready to activate, click “Continue”
  • Your eSIM is now installed.

    When You Arrive

  • Go to Settings and select Mobile Data (or Cellular)
  • On the Mobile Data page, tap on the Mobile Data option and select your eSIM as your preferred line
  • Go back to Mobile Data settings. Tap on your eSIM, under your SIM list. Turn Data Roaming on.
  • To Top Up Your Data


    1. To check your balance at any time, go to “My eSIMs”


    2. When your balance is running low, you will receive an SMS and an email


    3. Go to the KnowRoaming app and select “My eSIMs”


    4. Select the eSIM you would like to top up


    5. Choose a package based on your estimated data usage and trip duration


    6. Proceed to payment. Your data will be loaded instantly, no additional installation is required.


    When you return from your trip

    1. Go to Settings and tap on Mobile Data (or Cellular)

    2. Tap on Mobile Data at the top of your screen

    3. Select your Primary Home SIM

    4. Go back to Settings. And click on Mobile Data (or Cellular) again

    5. Tap on your eSIM and Toggle Off “Turn On This Line”.

    Manually Set Up Your eSIM

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap on Mobile or Cellular data. In some regions mobile data will be called Cellular data

    3. Tap on Add eSIM

    4. Tap on Use QR code

    5. Tap on Enter Details Manually. (Usually located at the bottom of your screen)


    Enter the SM-DP+ Address and the Activation Code
    To find these details follow the below steps:

    5.1. Log into your KnowRoaming profile.

    5.2. Tap on My eSIMs & Top up.

    5.3. Tap on the status of your eSIM.

    5.4. Scroll to “How to install your eSIM” and select manual from the four options.

    5.5 The SM-DP+ and Activation Code for your eSIM are located there.

    6. Tap on Continue. Your device will connect to our services and download your eSIM profile. This might take a few minutes

    7. Follow any additional prompts to activate your eSIM. Once activated, you'll see your new network appear in your device's status bar.

    Troubleshooting

    Check for Network Locked Devices

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap on General

    3. Tap on About

    4. Look for Network Provider Lock

    5. “No SIM Restrictions” means the device is not network locked.

    Manually Switch Network Modes/ Speed

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Tap on Mobile Service/ Cellular Data

    3. Under SIMs, tap on your eSIM

    4. Tap on Voice & Data

    5. Alternate between 3G, 4G / LTE or 5G, depending on which one is available, starting with the fastest first and working backwards.
